Guide to Getting Your NJ Concealed Carry Permit

We at Ironsights Academy know the process of navigating New Jersey’s complex firearms waters are difficult. As such, we’ve created this guide to help you make your way towards getting your own NJ Concealed Carry Permit (formally titled “NJ Permit to Carry" in New Jersey)

Average Processing Time to Receive Your NJ Carry Permit: 3 Weeks

Follow These Steps

NJ Residents

Step 1: Ensure you have your New Jersey Firearm Purchaser ID Card (yellow card). If you do not have one, begin the process of obtaining yours by clicking HERE.

Step 2: Ensure you have your own legally-owned firearm.

Step 3: Ensure you are proficient with firearm safety, loading/unloading, and shooting accurately. If you are unsure, we recommend taking one of our NRA Basics of Pistol Classes to increase your chances of success.

Step 4: Sign up for one of our affordable NJ Permit to Carry Qualification Courses (see below or see our Course Schedule).

Step 5: Apply for your NJ Permit to Carry online by clicking HERE.

Non NJ Residents

Step 1: Review the directions provided by the NJSP for Non-Residents by clicking HERE.

Step 2: Ensure you have your own legally-owned firearm.

Step 3: Ensure you are proficient with firearm safety, loading/unloading, and shooting accurately. If you are unsure, we recommend taking one of our NRA Basics of Pistol Classes to increase your chances of success.
